What gives me the most hope is that the younger generation in Argentina is supporting Milei. Praying for his success, and that the "intelligence" community doesn't succeed in doing him in.

As counterpoint to the gushing interpretations of what people would like to think Milei is saying, I offer David Icke's considered view below. I'm not gushing about Milei and don't project my commitment for a better world into his words. In Robert's essay, the inspiring words he draws from Milei's speech may be hope searching for substance after the recent years of trauma we have all encountered, but hope isn't the same as reality. The reality is Milei can equally be, and in my opinion is, speaking to empower, even more, the cabal that has damaged everything so devistatingly, for so long. He is no prophet, and is certainly not a saviour. Icke's words follow.

"I heard that Milei's speech at the WEF champions freedom, so I listened. It doesn't. It seeks to move power and control from governments to corporations if you listen carefully and that’s happening anyway. What he doesn’t say is that governments and corporations are owned by the same global Cult. So either way the same cabal is in control. The obsession with economic growth for its own sake is classic free-for-all, child-like economics, in which the strongest, most wealthy and powerful, prevail without the most basic checks and balances. Economic growth is merely the amount of money spent on goods and services. So all the negative things that we don’t want to happen are ticked as positive by economic growth if money changes hands and profits are made. ‘Freedom’ to be exploited by billionaires without redress is NOT freedom. Corporate monopolies with unchecked power is NOT freedom. He talks about ‘capitalism’, but what he is describing in truth is cartelism. It’s barely one-dimensional. It’s the playground. You challenge white with black and black with white while the Cult sits laughing in the shades of grey controlling both. Milei is a child in a grown-ups’ playground appearing to challenge power while handing it over to the already super-powerful. Which do you want? The ‘free’ (rigged) market tyranny run riot or state-dictated communist tyranny? Neither, thanks. I’m an adult. I want freedom and justice for all, not the few, and whether it’s Milei or Schwab the few get the spoils and the rest get the crumbs and the tyranny."

Unfortunately, the positive reactions to the speech comes as a surprise to me from this part of the internet. The quote by David Icke is a really good summary. Hard to improve on it in a short post.

Milei's is truly a childish speech - just let ME be and exploit the world and all will be good as if by an invisible hand. Even the misunderstood Adam Smith was not so naive as to believe this works as an overarching societal principle.

Just have to highlight a few counterpoints:

- Dismissing market failures with hand waving is terribly disingenuous. The tragedy of the commons - the excessive utilization of common assets that leads to their degradation (cf. overfishing, overgrazing, forest destruction) - is a well known and well observed phenomenon. Societal organization - community - was specifically developed to address these type of failures. Rules and norms written and unwritten can in many ways mitigate it, but only regulation using some kind of modeling method and assessment of regeneration rates can really support a long-term sustainable utilization of the resource.

- A corollary of the above, is the blind faith in the ability of technology to come to the rescue alleviating resource constraints. Historically, this was not usually the case as the documented collapses of multiple civilizations attest to. Technology is a tool and resource constraints are part of a physical reality. Nothing unchecked can grow forever in nature before killing its host (cf. cancer) and since humans are sentient and conscious they should have a self-reflective property in the rate of their consumption. The Earth, no matter how big it, it is certainly not infinite. Some trepidation and gratitude is needed to be in place when we appropriate what God so abundantly provides. This explicit limiting factor on growth, needs to be enforced (by regulation and state) when education and social norms fail to do so.

- In fact, this brings us to the center of the whole failure. The paradigms of Left and Right Brain Hemisphere (cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_and_His_Emissary ) More or less, since the Renaissance and the subsequent industrial revolution, our societies are pushed continuously out of kilter following an unbalanced paradigm where the emissary takes the upper hand. It is reflecting an older well observed pendulum between imperial overextension through arms and collapse (c.f. Persia, Alexander the Great, Rome, Mongols etc.) against a more balanced approach with states primarily driven by mutually beneficial trade during quiet periods (e.g. Ancient Greek states, China, Japan). But now, it is taken to the extreme where there are no countervailing forces. Education, faith, philosophy and social norms are all burnt out at the pyre of techno-fascism and the Ego at the center of the problem is left unhinged. With ever growing desire for concentration of wealth and power to the level of psychopathy. Only community and organization (ideally self driven) could bring this train-wreck back on track - probably after a very large crash...

- Anarcho-capitalism just feeds the negative aspects of the current predicament leading the fall even harder. It is just fascism in 21st century jargon.

In the end, the proof will be given soon enough - as Argentina accelerates it's failed trajectory under the guidance of a spoiled child in an adult's clothes. Unless, this is also an act - well designed and tested by the PTB (noting also the venue where this speech was given. Reflect once more: would anything contravening the WEF interests be allowed in their own venue? Where is Russia or Hungary or Syria or N. Korea for that matter - the other perceived "pariahs" in this charade? Why are they also not given a venue to speak?

No sophisticated grown up or even an Ivy League university student believes that Horatio Alger billionaire stories are literally true for them. What most Americans with a modicum of reason believe is they can do better than their parents did by hard work, honesty and good friends. My father was a poor Polish immigrant boy who fought in WW2, acquired a skill in military cartography and drafted the D-Day invasion maps through to the Battle of the Bulge, and years later worked on the lunar landing maps and the Tomahawk cruise missile. His middle class salary provided me an opportunity to attend an excellent university, serve in the Vietnam war and later to become a board certified neurologist. Billionaires? No way. But look at John Kerry who married a billionaire heiress. He’s a scientifically stupid man, who believes in “climate change“ catastrophic thinking, and flies around in his private jet, preaching to the world about fossil fuels, and was a swiftboat officer in the Vietnam war, severely criticized for incompetence by his fellow officers. Milei’s appeal is to free markets, and the ability of free citizens, to avail themselves of multiple opportunities in an economy to become successful; it has nothing to do with the notion, however, stupid, that everyone should be a billionaire like a John Kerry or a Kennedy or a Gates or a Klaus Schwab. The goal in life should be to have an enriching and challenging ride. Wealthy or poor we are governed by two things no one has control of: the March of Time and Death. Milei’s appeal as I see it--irregardless of imperfections in his theoretical reasoning--was to individuals like me and my children and 11 grandchildren. He may have had a different appeal to the billionaires in the room but why should I give a damn?

The answer to your question is contained in the final sentence of Icke’s statement.

The longing for freedom so many yearn for is not going to be given to them by the monied people or the corrupt governments and institutions they cultivate. Such Machiavellian types are a vortex of aggrandizing exploitation.

In my respectful opinion, to find themselves, Americans should revisit the 19th and early 20th century Horatio Alger stories which are so profoundly integrated into their psychological framework and “the American Dream”. What was once uplifting from one’s bootstraps, was also a strong psyops that limited the potential of the children these juvenile novels were targeted at.

The belief that every person can grow up to be a millionaire (billionaire/trillionaire) if only they are clever and work hard is largely fantasy. But it is so integrated into the American psyche, that even the poorest and most exploited give billionaires the benefit of the doubt. In part, because they hope to be standing along side of them one day, and in part because they are programed through this dream to believe someone who builds themselves up from nothing can’t be bad.

Of today’s billionaires, there are few who built themselves up from nothing. Go through the top tier and right behind them was already wealth, influence, and power before they took their first financial steps. Even Horatio Alger Jr., the author of novels written for the impoverished, had a privileged upbringing and commenced writing after he graduated from Harvard University.

It is such people that Mielie is speaking on behalf of; not you or me.

Yes, well like Trump is by far the lesser of 2 evils for many Americans, he is still in the same mind set. Everything we do needs to make sense. Burning more coal as one example and loving it, is not a smart solution. We need to be smarter to live in harmony with Mother Earth. This big dirt ball is a living organism and we do need to treat it as such. Don’t worry about saving the world, it’s been around for a lot longer than us humans and I think the world will be just fine. Think of ourselves, yourselves, we are the vulnerable ones, the ones that need saving. Think of the earth as a dog and we are the fleas. Eventually, if we become too irritating to its existence, it will get rid of us. I keep saying that those that believe that the earth is overpopulated, need to be willing to be the first to go. The rest of us, need to think of ways that we can live comfortably and sustain our happiness without over indulgence and no longer going to the bathroom and our own drinking water, make more sense. Being kind and supportive of our fellow humans. The small number of people that perpetuate the wars and all crimes against humanity, need to be outlawed. I just watched BEEF on Netflix and can see why it was winning awards. It uncovers the absurdity that we humans think is standing up for ourselves. Just let it go, is the main message. Forgive those who trespass against you, especially if it is insignificant to your existence. Now somebody’s trying to kill everybody, that’s different When Malone spoke of mass formation psychosis, everybody freaked out. “That's taking away the responsibility of the people we elected to look after us!” People don’t wanna be responsible for themselves, they want the system to look after them, like a child wants to be looked after by a parent. We all need to be accountable, and that starts with understanding , thinking, speaking, acting the truth. Be more like water and don’t get stuck on the rocks, if you’re flexible, you will go around the rocks down the stream of life. If we want to change the system, it will require a Revolution and we are part of that. I think of God as a collection of all of us into that one energy that is, God. Or we are a part of that one energy, many of whom, have lost that vision/knowledge/understanding, of their part in it. There are still so many in a state of belief that is inaccurate, what “THEY” want us to believe. That is the slavery. The waking up is the work and Icke has been doing it for 50 years. Milei is not perfect for sure, but like Trump (I don’t like him as a person because he will take advantage of people without any consideration for them, or their families. Not a good human overall, but had some good ideas as to how a country should support its people. He did very well in the business of running America more like a business. Countries are places and people and all needs to be considered ) but there is hope in true capitalism , to support the willingness and effort of every person. It is going to be difficult to break up the CLUB. I call it the psychopath club, some call it the CEO club, Hollywood, Billionaires Club/Cult .. whatever you call it. These people don’t give a shit about any of us. What if Robert F Kennedy Junior became the president of the United States? Would we be able to protect him? because we would need to if he were to succeed in seeing his vision come to fruition. RFK is mostly talking about accountability, in itself revolution and that is all there is. His uncle spoke those famous words “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” it truly is about collective will and using it for the greater good. David Icke is right, We cannot think that the wolf in sheep‘s clothing is going to change the favor system and this save us. We need to hold everyone to account including ourselves. Gotta keep doing the work and as complicated as it is, it’s all we have.

I think that the focus is on less governmental control and mandates. The WEF is talking about the one world digital currency that would give them ultimate control over your movement and autonomy. We definitely need to put a stop to that. Moving forward, I think effort and willingness are going to be the strongest attributes a person can have, to have a satisfying life. Capitalism is the only system that will support this. Socialism and communism are ideals that have never worked because the administrators are human and humans are greedy, needy animals. Not sell people of course, but you only need look around. We cannot expect to keep empowering wealthy, ego driven psychopaths to “lead” our free world and to not have to pay heavily for it. Kennedy wanted to dismantle the military industrialized complex, but they were too evil and greedy to allow that to happen. Milei is talking about taking away the power of the government over the people and that is a step in the right direction. We won’t be turning this albatross on a dime, it’s going to take time. I like Icke, but always wondered how this could ever happen. It’s consciousness raising and it’s slow, hard work. Just gotta dig in one step at a time

Philip, some good points.

It would be good if Milei could turn over power to the people, but by his early actions it looks like he is turning over power to buyers and bankers. With the extreme disparities of capital reserves, how much chance would 99% of Argentines have at owning their own land and resources against Blackrock, Vanguard, and the like, especially for the moment in time the US Dollar becomes the 'local' currency.

The distinction Icke makes between Capitalism and Cartelism isn't something to skim over lightly. It cuts to the core of Milei's risk to the Argentine people.

Collective intelligence is real. We are just now learning how to harness it.

The WEF is the enemy of the Collective humanity.

Humans need a new place to solve problems. A new high-trust decentralized and transparent place, that makes all of these current ones that have lost our trust (government, media, business, medicine, food, academia, and even science) obsolete. A place that blocks out the propaganda,

There is a better way to fix all of this, together.

I have said I just want to be left alone. One of the biggest frustration in my life is being harassed by government. Licenses, registrations, insurance, more licenses, more registrations, permits, mandates, certificates, federal taxes, state taxes, and on and on. Is it not clear as day when the government somewhat removes its boot off the necks of business and people the economy thrives. Americans are innovative. If government would just get the hell out of the way the general public and the middle class would become healthy again. If they would just leave me alone. I realize the leeches of society (government) are unable to leave people alone. Look at them, lifetimes of creating nothing, lifetimes of sucking off the innovation of others. But I think he was invited to speak to provide cover for the Davos schemers - they applaud his forthrightness and then go right back to plotting the globalist course. It is gaslighting at its best - gives the globalists an air of deniability, all the while crafting their means to promote the very opposite of what Milei’s speech entailed.

“The only context in which there can be a market failure is if there is coercion. And the only one that is able to coerce generally is the state which holds a monopoly on violence.” (@13:00)

Expand full comment

President Milei is right on target here. It is the government and not the free market system that fails whenever an owner's exclusive use ("negative externalities") or disposition ("positive externalities") of their own peacefully-acquired property is not defended, or whenever one's liberty to do anything that doesn't transgress against the ownership rights of others is curtailed, including coercive barriers to the acquisition of unowned resources ("tragedy of the commons") and association with others for jointly achieving common goods ("public goods").

Of course, there is much more than just purely economic arguments one can make against socialism and against the doctrines peddled by creepy WEF wonks like Yuval Harari. The WEF really needs a whole series of lectures like this. Not only does central planning cause mass poverty, it also represents an intolerable assault on everyone's pursuit of happiness (except that of the central planner of course) due to its denial of the intellectual and moral autonomy of individuals, and also systematically undermines the integrity and cohesion of valuable non-economic institutions and norms that spontaneously emerge in a free society, including families, languages, cultures, science, and arts

Expand full comment

But this is not true, is it? As we have just seen in Ecuador, and as has been evident in the Middle East for many years. Governments DO NOT have a monopoly on violence! We let private corporations manufacture our weapons of violence, and after that has been done, anyone with a deep enough purse can acquire them. Thus criminal gangs and terrorist organizations around the world have become capable of quite extreme violence, including the assassination of political leaders and the partial or complete shutdown of the mechanisms of economies and financial structures.

It is hard to even imagine how much better of our country would be if we had a congress/government full of such great men.

I can't recall a period in my life where even a noteworthy fraction of our government had any real respect for the constitution. For my nearly 50 years it has been nothing but a shallow vener of lip service to the Constitution minus a handful of individuals.

We desperately needs clear and mandatorily enforceable laws on the books with severe felony punishments for transparent attempts to circumvent to disregard the Constitution and Bill of Rights for those in office. My view is slightly more nuanced, that capitalism needs the restraining influence of the acknowledgment of God in order to counteract the human vice of greed to dominate decisions and behavior. In a moral vacuum, the rich do get richer, but when the Chrisitian dynamic is paramount, philanthropy, generosity and individual concern for the poor become manifest as well, not from incentives by government but by the overflow of the transformed heart. Nevertheless, I applaud Milei's insight, verve and courage. The tip of the hat to Friedrich Hayek is well noted.

Though I don't personally believe that the Christian dynamic in particular is required to maintain basic moral standards, it is a good example of a moral attitude that has worked for us. Without a basic sense of right and wrong, no people can stand for long.

Moral standards can be discovered and embraced or manufactured out of whole cloth; just ask Bill Gates. In the case of the former, a brief example. In today's mail was a solicitation with an incentive to subscribe to the Washington Times which piqued my curiosity. I did not know who or whom was behind this publication. Turns out to be Philip Anschutz, originally from Kansas, a Christian philanthropist who has embodied my point above. The link below makes a profound point that is often overlooked in the debate between capitalism and socialism, the psychology of risk/reward. What reward does one get in socialism for risking anything? Or working hard? Or striving to be the best at one's endeavor? How is excellence ever achieved in socialism? In capitalism, risk has costs, and failures. As it says in the article, in drilling for oil, 95% of the holes are dry. But once in a while, the risk is rewarded, and isn't that what makes life alive? https://union.ku.edu/man-who-sees-around-corners
